A Bear Goes Fishing Requirements
Fishing is an age old sport and source of food feeding billions of people on the planet. This Bear is Going Fishing and you will learn about the tools used to catch fish, how to tie a knot for your line, how to cast the line and how to tell if you have a fish on the line or not. Learn about fishing rules in our State and local areas and then let’s go – A Bear Goes Fishing.
Complete at least three of the following.
- Discover and learn about three types of fish in your area. Draw a color picture of each fish, record what each one likes to eat, and describe what sort of habitat each likes.
- Learn about your local fishing regulations with your den leader or a parent or guardian. List three of the regulations you learn about and one reason each regulation exists.
- Learn about fishing equipment, and make a simple fishing pole. Practice casting at a target 30 feet away. Teach what you have learned to someone in your family, another Scout, or one of your friends.
- Go on a fishing adventure, and spend a minimum of one hour trying to catch a fish. Put into practice the things you have learned about fish and fishing equipment.
